Mobile Gravel Trucks Tracking System in Kaohsiung City

Myerstone Technology partnered with Kaohsiung City Government in 2009 to launch the Project of Mobile Vehicle Tracking Management. The project is the first of its kind in Taiwan, it allows the government authorities to monitor and locate vehicles at any time, and it provides accurate text reports of travel & stop times, locations, speed, and map displays showing routes traveled.

Myerstone Mobile Vehicle Tracking System consists of a GPS unit, Wireless Communication Systems (WiMax/WiFi/GPRS/3G) and GIS, and Mobile DVR (MDVR), The purpose of this project is to help Kaohsiung City Government establish the Vehicles Management Regulation and

the standard operation procedure. In line with the policy of Kaohsiung City Government to promote the mobile vehicle tracking management services, This system was first applied in the gravel trucks management in order to establish Gravel Trucks Management Center and the standard gravel trucks operation procedure (such as Declaration, GPS Positioning Data). To establish this real-time and reliable location-tracking system, it is not only convenient to improve the management efficiency for government authorities, but also highly beneficial for transportation companies to easily locate their vehicles and monitor their fleet status by using vehicle telematics (tracking and diagnostics), such as mileage statistics, fuel consumption, and tire pressure sensors.

This monitoring system are also required to display the real-time messages for vehicle position, over time, over speed, over load, proposed routes and restricted routes etc., in order to effectively prevent and reduce gravel truck accidents and crackdown on the illegal gravel quarrying, so as to effectively implement the gravel trucks traffic management policy.

The Advanced Features of MyEZ Mobile Vehicle Tracking System

Mobile Vehicle Monitoring and Tracking: The system is able to monitor 3000 vehicles simultaneously, and can automatically open up to 9 different windows all at once. This will allow the controllers to monitor vehicles by their own jurisdictional limits

Digital Map Display: With high-speed map display ability, and allow the map to enlarge, narrow, and roaming function. And allow user to use their mouse pointer to outline a "target scope" in the web map. In addition, an eagle-eye (breviary) function is also provided for Taiwan-wide navigation usage.

Real-Time Vehicle Position Display: Real-Time vehicles position and related data can be displayed by icons and attributes. Display items include Plate Number, Speed, Direction, GPS Quantity, On-Board devices status, Retention time, and On-Board device company name.

Abnormal Situation Automatic alert and reporting: Allow to integrate with cross-check system, activate automatic auditing function, real-time(sound alarm) abnormal situation alert, e.g., illegal intrusion into water protection region, sensitive region, and reporting undeclared situation.

Query of Historical Track: Providing Multiple Date/Time Option or Cross-Checking and Output Function of Historical Path Data, and Alignment Function.

The application of Mobile Vehicle Tracking System for gravel trucks management was the first case of its kind in Kaohsiung County as well as in Taiwan to regulate and manage public transportation and order on the roads by integrating law enforcement and technology management against illegal quarrying of gravel. The system can effectively resolve traffic safety problems arising from gravel trucks’ violations, and to reduce driver’s probability of traffic violations. With transparent vehicles information display, it will allow controllers to significantly reduce communication fee with drivers, and in turn to reduce operation cost, so as to enhance gravel manufacturers and truck operators’ satisfaction and operation efficiency.

The subsequent development strategy for later stage of the project will target a wide variety of transportation vehicles, such as taxi cars, kindergarten school bus, sightseeing coach etc, to provide positioning service, path planning, and vehicle data recording function. Enable transportation service industries to utilize information and communication technology to create higher service value and to lower operation costs, and achieve the goals for safety, convenience and comfort.
